Living The Life… Westwood, CA

If you enjoy hiking, kayaking, and cross country skiing, you’ll love life in Westwood. If you are a dirt biker or off-road enthusiast, life in Westwood will put you in the center of many off-road recreational opportunities. Sportsmen centered in Westwood have access to a myriad of hunting and fishing opportunities. Two hours from Reno and 6 miles from Lake Almanor, Westwood is situated where the Sierras meet the Cascade Mountain Range. At nearly 5,200 feet above sea level, the town usually sees a good amount of snow each winter, however the past few winters have been mild (2015). The winter of 2016-17 brought more normal snow patterns back to Westwood. Old pictures at the museum show huge snows here.

Coppervale Ski & Snowboard Park

A snowboard park and steep face are visible from the sunny deck where you can enjoy your lunch.  Other runs offer fun for all skill levels, including a beginner’s run with rope tow. A Poma lift serves the rest of the mountain. College courses and season passes are available. Click for links.
