Tucked neatly in the woods, in the small mountain town of Westwood, at the corner of Ash and 3rd Street, The Walker Mansion Inn seems to whisper romantic getaway. Built in 1914, this beautifully nostalgic Bed & Breakfast was originally home to Westwood’s founding Walker family. The Walkers owned the Red River Lumber Company and the size and original details throughout their former home quickly return visitors to an era of simple elegance. With forest views, several lakes nearby and no phone in the rooms, this intimate little inn is truly an escape from it all. The screened-in outdoor patio is a wonderful place to enjoy the mild mountain climate.

With five rooms in total, there is never a crowd and managers Rob and Linda Hart share a down-home spirit that makes it very easy to just relax and make yourself at home. A full deluxe breakfast including home made quiches, fresh baked muffins and seasonal fresh fruit is always served with plenty of coffee and a wide selection of teas. Rob and Linda formerly owned the Coventry Gardens Tea House in Susanville and continue to offer monthly afternoon teas with two seating times. Linda’s fresh baked goodies greet guests at check-in and in-room coffee means a chance to revive after traveling. Breakfast is always included with your stay but the Harts are also happy to provide a homemade dinner during your stay. There is a fee and prior reservations are required when booking your stay, or with adequate notice prior to your arrival date.

Each room at the Walker Mansion Inn is uniquely decorated and has a seating area near a window that overlooks the woods. Three suites offer a private bath, microwave and mini fridge. A large common area provides a place to lounge and read or play a game of chess. The lovely Garden Suite boasts an attached sun room with two comfortable twin beds that double as seating. Two single rooms for two share the hallway bath when both are occupied. Whether you stay in the Rose Room,  Blue Room, Pine Room, Dyer Room or Garden Suite, you’ll dream the night away in a comfortable bed with cozy surroundings.

An in-house artist and antique collective offers a fun and eclectic place to shop for a memento, gift or classic piece for your own home or office. While the shop, The Old Towne

Mercantile, has normal business hours, hosts of The Walker Mansion Inn are known to offer after-hours access for their guests.

If you harbor an outdoorsman spirit Walker Mansion Inn is the perfect launch site for endless outdoor adventure. Beautiful lakes for fishing and kayaking and the Bizz Johnson Trailhead are a very short drive away and a Lassen Volcanic National Park entrance is under an hour away.
