Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding is hosting three new exhibitions and bringing back a spook-tacular event this Fall for guests of all ages to enjoy!
Take Flight (Sep. 24-Jan. 4, 2017); This exploration into the creative process of flight combines historical information with hands on activities to engage people of all ages in creating their own flying experience while learning the fundamental principles of flight. Guests first learn about the evolution of flight and man; then begin their own journey of discovery with a series of building activities that help them to create different forms of flying machines. Presented by Cornerstone Community Bank. Created and circulated by ScienceWorks Museum, Ashland, Oregon.
Find Your Park—Find Your Heart (Oct. 1-Jan. 8, 2017); Our region boasts the deepest lake in North America, the tallest trees in the world, a dam dedicated by John F. Kennedy, volcanic landscapes, dark skies, an underground river, and a WWII interment camp. What do all of these have in common? They are National Park Service properties. 2016 is the National Park Service Centennial year. Explore our region’s seven National Parks in the comfort of the museum and learn why these diverse resources were selected to be designated as NPS properties and investigate what makes each site special. Presented by Five Star Bank. A collaboration with the National Park Service and the Shasta Historical Society.
Bountiful Harvest: From Land to Table (Oct. 1-Jan 8, 2017); Where does your food come from? Oregon artist Betty LaDuke’s bright, colorful paintings explore and celebrate Oregon’s agricultural bounty and the workers who plant, tend, and harvest it. Additional interpretive information lets guests go in-depth and learn the stories of the people portrayed in the artworks. Presented by Healthy Shasta.
Spooktoberfest (Friday, October 21, 2016, 5:30-9pm; rain date October 28); A Halloween-themed night of family fun in the Gardens! Enjoy ghoulishly fun activities, a special, live Animal Show, a no-host beer garden, delicious eats, and lots of other tricks and treats.
