Rows and rows of beautiful RVs lined the lower edge of the park for a weekend of family fun at the Corey Herring Memorial Race “Go Big or Go Home!” The event, honoring the young rider lost eight years ago, helps fund scholarships created in his name.

New owners of the motocross park, Braeden Keena, Cole Woloscsuk and James Kirk, currently based in Kansas City, were on site for the big event. They have been contemplating ideas to incorporate into their new venture but had no idea how many riders would come out to support motocross events at the track.

While this was the only race weekend slated for the 2016 season, track owners are planning for a full season of events next year, especially after hearing from so many enthusiasts who are thrilled to see the track open again. That was the major consensus we got from the folks we talked to at the race. The turn-out for the first race shows a positive forecast for helping add to Lassen County’s wide array of tourism opportunities.
