Lake Almanor CampgroundNorth Shore Campground at Lake Almanor

What better way to relax or play the day away while experiencing the wonders of nature than surrounding yourself in a fun environment like that provided at North Shore Campground?
The clean and well-maintained campground is located right on the shoreline of gorgeous Lake Almanor, accessible from Highway 36, and just a short two-mile drive from the town of Chester.
Theresa Rudderham, together with Charles Bluth, operate the 22-acre encampment, which features five cabins, ranging in size from 500 to 1,600-square feet, all boasting two bedrooms each, with clean, modern
bathrooms and full kitchens that include utensils and pots and pans. Bedding and bath towels are also provided. Some of the cabins have wood burning fireplaces, and guests have the option to use on-site propane for heating and cooking.
“We have 30 tent sites as well,” Theresa says, which are available for up to six people per site with parking for two vehicles, plus 70 RV spaces that can accommodate rigs up to 40 feet in length, with water and electrical hook-ups, and a convenient dump station. A bathhouse offers hot showers, a dressing area, and bathrooms. Fir and towering pine trees shade many of the sites.
“We have a general store where people can purchase food, snacks, beverages, get ice, and use a self-serve coffee bar, plus beer and wine is available,” as well as fishing and camping supplies. What more could you ask for?
A boat launch allows easy access to Lake Almanor, where bass fishing, water skiing, and house boating are popular pastimes. Hikers will find countless hiking trails where they can enjoy bird watching, including bald eagles and osprey. The campground also offers standup paddle boards, kayak and canoe rentals.
For those who wish to remain connected to the Internet, “We have wireless hotspots near the store and also within range of our small lending library for people who may wish to borrow books and relax indoors and also use their laptops.”
Employees are on-site to man the phones to maintain safety and for emergencies 24/7. “We want to assure that our guests feel safe and secure.”
Theresa emphasizes that they provide family-oriented recreation. “We’re pretty strict about keeping the noise level down after 10 o’clock at night when guests are ready to call it a day.”
The season for camping at North Shore runs from May 1st until October 1st. Check-in hours are from 6 o’clock in the morning until 10 at night. To respect their guests, they do not perform check-ins between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
