Dirt biking is popular with residents as many trails are accessible right from town. Download Maps noting OHV routes in nearby Plumas County. ATVs and Side By Sides are also popular with the residents of Westwood. Snowmobilers enjoy riding from their doorsteps and they regularly use the Fredonyer Snowmobile Park & nearby parks. It is groomed by the Forest Service and connects with trails across the Sierra Cascade region. Kayakers enjoy the beautiful scenery and waters at Walker Lake. Mountain bikers and hikers have many beautiful places to ride and hike. The nationally acclaimed Bizz Johnson Trail runs between Westwood and Susanville. The 21-mile historic trail was once the old Fernley Lassen Railroad that transported Westwood’s Paul Bunyan Pine around the country.
