Here in the mountains we find it perfectly acceptable to color outside the lines. We love to gather in random groups at unique venues and combine the joys of life that feed our bodies, minds and spirits. Pangea Cafe and Pub at 461 main St. in Quincy, Ca is a perfect example of such a venue, especially on Monday nights when the music plays. Various local musicians jam together on instruments as  mixed as the company. On the Monday night of our visit we enjoyed banjo, accordion, upright bass and fiddle, just to name a few.  This group is collectively known as Fish Tacos since that is also the Monday night dinner special at the predominantly organic Pangea Cafe and Pub.

Fish Tacos were my dinner choice made with wild Alaskan pollack, smoky cheddar cheese, avocado and lettuce. On the side I enjoyed coconut milk black beans and rice with marinated onions. The fish is topped with a wonderful homemade tomatillo cilantro dressing that is one of three bottled and sold at Pangea.

Open Jam Session "Fish Tacos" come and join in [/media-credit]Soon after the music jam began, several guests were up and dancing. (A broken toe was all that stopped me from joining in.) This is really a let-your-hair-down-and-join-the-fun kind of place. Owner/ operator Holly Nordt and her partner Cheryl Arthur are committed to supporting the local arts and the economy, buying local beef from Thompson Valley and local produce whenever possible. Organic is the general theme but you can still get a death by chocolate cheesecake. After all we need something to feed the soul. Local wines and micro-brew beers are also on the menu at Pangea Cafe & Pub.

A full menu is available online at pangeapub.com that includes sushi, some Thai dishes and even a kids menu. We had an awesome visit at Pangea and I can’t wait to go back after my toe is up to dancing. Eat, drink and be merry with the crowd At Pangae’s.. Take in a meal for some local flavor!
