Mi Casita Mexian Restaurant- Quincy, CA
It was a beautiful day in Quincy, Ca when I met Mario Marquez, owner of Mi Casita Mexican Restaurant. This has long been a favored stop for me when I am in Quincy and now I see why. Mario is no stranger to cooking professionally. He got his start at the original Mi Casita in Susanville many years ago. Now it was beginning to click… every friday night, way back when, we used to crowd in with all the rest on that Main Street corner in Susanville for some of Mario’s cuisine. He eventually moved on to Josefina’s, and went to work in Chester when Josefina’s opened there. When they were done in Chester, Mario stayed and changed the name to Mi Casita. With many of the original recipes in hand, he began preparing them his own way. He expanded into Quincy in 1999, leaving his ister Elizabeth with the Chester location, also open 7 days a week on Main Street in chester.
Scents of chile verde drew us to the top of the hill in East Quincy to Mi Casita where a bright red tablecloth and a basket of chips and homemade salsa welcomed us to our seat overlooking the popular patio area. It was an obvious hot spot for the working lunch.
They serve a good breakfast too at Mi Casita from 6am. They also have steak or steak and prawns which is a Rib Eye steak and six deliciously deep fried prawns. Many American favorites come with fries including a burger, steak sandwich or their Fish Fry.
This family owned and operated restaurant welcomes you from 6 am until 9 pm for some of their favorites, soon to be yours also. Stop in soon and meet them if you have not already. You’ll love their large menu. They serve beer, wine and wine margaritas too and a scrumptions $15.95 prime rib special on Fridays.
