Visiting Quincy is always a treat. Many quaint shops and fine eateries lie in Quincy. The Plumas National Forest surrounds the small town, with plenty of adventures to be had. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat with nice folks to meet, you’ve found another good reason to visit Quincy. This lovely little spot welcomes you. Ranchito Motel owners, John and Tracy Wixted, have been improving the place ever since they bought it. Located in virtually a “private forest,” they are also within walking distance from the fairground. We came July 1st when things were pretty busy with the High Sierra Music Festival at the fairground.
The newest improvement of a beautiful stone patio with gazebo was finished just in time for the event. We talked to a big group (pictured), who come to the festival each year from the Phoenix, AZ area, to stay at Ranchito Motel. Travelers from near and far stay in Quincy year ‘round . The Ranchito is the perfect place for relaxing and unwinding. The property’s tranquil acreage offers guests the opportunity to read a book by the brook, dine at one of the outdoor tables, or take a stroll to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
The comfortable rooms are well equipped. Some kitchenette, garden and brookside units are available. Free DirecTV with HBO and wireless internet are included with all rooms and some are small pet friendly. Coffee maker, microwave, flat screen TV, DVD player, ironing board and mini fridge are included in every room along with complimentary coffee. Prices vary and pets are an additional $15 per stay, but rooms with one bed start at just $69.
Spanish style rooms are near the front of the property. They are reminiscent of the Spanish settlers who arrived prior to the California Gold Rush. But now, they have beautiful new windows, paint and carpet. Historic brick walls with gorgeous beamed ceilings hold on to the buildings’ original, beautiful Spanish architecture. 
The motel itself is a piece of rugged history. Spanish style brick buildings with big rustic wood doors lie under rafters made of logs while rugged wood timbers stand as pillars. The place is reason enough to visit Quincy, but beside all that lies the Plumas National Forest and a myriad of activities. John and Tracy are happy to point out local events and attractions. The entertainment scene is active in Quincy too, with live music and theater.
