Rustic Elegance – Upscale Dining, Grizzly Grill

Welcome to The Grizzly Grill where new owners Chris Simone and Randi Collier prepare to celebrate their first year anniversary in business.

They just couldn’t resist buying this upscale restaurant set in the beautiful wooded landscape of the Plumas National Forest. Located in a rustic wooden building on Bonta Street in Blairsden’s commercial area, Grizzly Grill is only 50 miles north of Truckee on Highway 89, and just around the corner from Graeagle. What an amazing location to live and work.

In no time at all the delightful menu choices and charming ambiance had locals and travelers alike flocking through the doors. After dinner, belly up to the full bar and enjoy a cold local draft beer or cocktail. In the comfortable homey lounge area, patrons can enjoy the work of local artisans and conversation while seated comfortably in the rustic furniture or at the antique bar. For larger parties, banquet facilities can accommodate private gatherings seating up to 120 people in either of the two dining rooms.

Good calamari is often hard to find in the mountains but it is among the favorites at this classy little hideaway, piping hot, lightly browned and cooked to tender perfection. Chef and co-owner Chris Simone knows his calamari! Served with house made tartar and cocktail sauce, this is an appetizer that could easily be a meal. Roasted Lamb Shank, huge and falling off the bone in a divine Merlot Sauce and Shrimp Scampi atop a bed of rice with lemon, capers and wonderful herbs are just two of the memorable meals served with a smile at the Grizzly Grill. Don’t forget dessert. With options like Creme Brûlée, hot Apple Crisp and Chocolate Decadence Cake, who can resist?

Whether you are visiting the Blairsden/ Graeagle area or are just passing through, drop in on Chris and Randi and sample their tasty fare. You are sure to be amazed.
