When the snow begins to fall, we all look up to the mountains, longing for the resorts to open, knowing that some of the best slopes are right here Northern California. Whether your neck of the woods is near Mount Shasta, Coppervale or the famous resorts of Tahoe you are never far from an awesome slope to shred on!

The vast mountains and pure white snow are like a dream when you see the tall pine trees covered with snow. Knowing you will be waking to a day on the slopes makes you feel like a kid all over again.

I first learned to snowboard at our local hill, Coppervale located between Westwood and Susanville on Highway 36. This lifelong go to spot may not have a chair lift but the Palma lift is a fun way to get to top. With a steep face and a great Cat track you will surly fall in love with this little hill. If you are traveling  near Susanville or Lake Almanor I recommend dropping in and giving this remote and economical hill a run.

Having boarded a vast amount of acreage at numerous resorts, I find Mount Shasta one of the best for snowboarding. With excellent ticket prices I am always amazed that the chair lifts are never over crowded. With multiple lifts you can always find a new run to shred. From the bunny hill to to triple black diamonds there is fun galore for beginners and experts alike.  Mount Shasta also offers night lights who didn’t get enough during day and those who like to hit the slopes after the school and work day are done. I have been spoiled by numerous local resorts to ride and Mount Shasta is always at the top of my “go to” list.

World renowned for some of the finest Lake Tahoe is  a skiers or snowboarders paradise with great views and numerous resorts to choose from. I recommend researching a little before you hit the slopes. Living in the Sierra means you are always just one storm away from another epic day in the fresh powder.
