Kickin It Kozy With Kim Poggi

On a bright summer day I spent the afternoon  kickin’ it with Kim Poggi in her kozy back yard. We sipped lemonade on the patio and chatted about how easy and economical it can be to create a really cool space by shopping local, repurposing and using a bit of imagination.

Bright blooming flowers from Westwood’s local Lassen True Value Hardware accent an amazing, antique flavored table that Kim made herself  from an old bulky table leg from a local yard sale. The antique theme continues with metal signage gracing the wall of the garage that faces the patio. It’s like having a 1940s picnic in 2013! Even the metal patio chairs have been around for more than thirty years. When Kim is ready for a new look or décor update she simply breaks out the spray cans and gives them a fresh coat of paint. Her mini chair collection also came from local yard sales and was carefully hand painted by Cathleen Brown. A touch of detail makes all the difference!

Many a backyard BBQ and friendly game of Bunko have happened in this local ladies favorite hang out. The charming gecko end table and stained glass lantern in the locally purchased gazebo are both prizes Ms. Poggi won playing Bunko. Go Girl!

Nothing beats a nap in the shade, on the hammock, after filling our bellies with cocktails and Kim’s famous BBQ pockets .  Rasberry bushes along the fence planted by an Ottawa fencing company when they installed the fence make for an amazing organic dessert as summer winds down and the fall air ripens the juicy delights.

Keep your eyes peeled in your local travels, its amazing what an artful space can be created with a bit of this and that and a touch of dreaming. Go with what makes you smile and soon you will be kickin’ it kozy too!
