Feather River College Selects New President Feather River Community College District has selected Dr. Ronald Taylor as the new Superintendent/President of the District, replacing Dr. Susan Carroll who is retiring after nine years of service. In a phone interview, Dr. Taylor said he was drawn to FRC for several reasons. “The combination of Plumas County’s natural beauty and the school’s community orientation were big factors in my decision. It is clear to me that the campus community cares about the larger community and the area,” Dr. Taylor said. He also said, “I am very impressed by the quality of the programs offered at FRC and the unique nature of some of the niche programs such as Athletics, Equine Studies and Outdoor Recreation. I am very excited about this opportunity.” Dr. Taylor comes to FRC from Chabot College in Hayward, California, where he served as the Vice President of Academic Services. Dr. Taylor has been quite successful in bringing additional funds to the institutions he has served, having secured grants for Chabot’s nursing program and a two million Title V grant to expand learning communities at Reedley. He has been active in facilities bond campaigns, facilities planning and reconstruction. He stated, “One of my visions for the future of the college is for it to become a leader in the economic development of Plumas County and the surrounding area. I would like to see FRC become a cultural center for the region.” He officially took over the reins of Feather River College on July 1st.
